Original Riffs Page

I am not sure this will go anywhere, but it is a idea I like. I know this site is dedicated to tabbing other artists songs. But would you guys be open to the idea of a riffs page where you can post your own licks good or bad who cares. That is unless you think your tune is going to turn into a super song and don't want the idea getting out there ! I think it would give bass players new and old ideas of there own and inspiration. Especially new players. They can take your riffs and work them and learn in the process. It doesn't have to be a long drawn out thing or complicated, just a few notes you have put together that sounds good. I would be all over other peoples ideas and screwing with them to see how I can mess it up! I have mentioned this to the powers that be but I am not sure there will be a interest and if the powers that govern this website will create such a page. But I think it would be really cool, for me anyhow to play around with a few notes from other players. Maybe take it to another level, maybe not, maybe just learn a trick or two. Just a thought again. And P.S. there doesn't have to be any feedback on what you post. Just post a note and let others play and screw with it. Just an idea. The page could be called Post a Note ! Simple as that and take and learn and add on to other ideas from other players in the privacy of your own home where know one can hear you scream. This may not be suited for the pros out there that have been there done that. But it would be an awesome idea for the up and coming pros out there. One reason it might be a non starter is that some people just want to learn songs and not do there own thing. I get that. Let me know what you think.
Good idea

Just go ahead and do it as a thread, if people like the idea then it will take off, Jay started the Show Your Videos on YouTube thread which has been a success, I started a build your own bass thread, which wasn't, (IAmMark did follow my thread and built his own bass so it was a partial success). Just suck it and see as they say in the porn industry
Agreed

I've gotten a lot of value out of that thread as I'm working on refinishing this Peavey Foundation. It's a great resource for anyone working on their instrument.

Thanks, that's good to hear

It would only work if Loudlon or whoever controls the web design added on a page for posting your own riffs. I would be the guinea pig if you wanted and post a couple of riffs I have been working on and you guys can screw with them or don't. And post some of your own. That would be the great thing about it. You can look at some numbers from other players and go, yeah boy I think I can play with that riff and mess with it. Or that sucks and move on to the next one. No rating system just some notes from other players to work on and see where it takes you. And it can be completely anonymous to boot. If you have any other ideas on how this could work or if you think its not feasible let me know and I will drop the idea.

Johnny, who controls the web design, is not in London but Slovenia, (or Slovakia, can't remember which, he's a busy lad so I can't see why a dedicated thread wouldn't work. One problem I do have is, when you use a tab for a certain song you know how that song goes and the tab lets you know where to put your fingers. If you don't know how the tune goes, tabs are of little help, there's no note duration and no way of showing rests. Rests are just as important as notes, ( I'm such a great bassist because of the notes I don't play)

..which is a hell of a lot!

Hi Marko. I understand what you are saying. But that's not the idea. There is no possible way I could tab some tunes I have put down and expect anyone to play it like I do unless I record it. The idea is for people to post a little lick or two they have come up with screwing around but never took it anywhere and let whoever mess with it in there own way. It would be fantastic for beginners. I would have loved a page like that when I started out.
