Hi, I'm Nick, and I think I might have a problem. I see unloved basses on CraigsList for cheap and buy them.

$50 for a Peavey Foundation (1992, with the Super Ferrite pickups) AND a Peavey Minx 110 amp.

The bass needs to be refinished and buzzes pretty badly, but nothing that can't be fixed with some time and effort. The amp has very low volume, even with the gain/Pre-amp turned up all the way, but I'll figure that out, too (probably with some help).

But just $50! For both!!

I don't think my wife realized that's 6 basses and 3 combo amps. Please don't tell her!
LOL! That's $50 for the gear plus $50 for each of us to not tell your wife.

Me too, just bought an Epiphone Thunderbird bass body and neck for £66. The necks fine but the body is battered and bruised and has to be totally stripped, filled and recoated, also having to buy every thing else to make it complete then add it to the other five basses I've already done. would have been easier to buy a new one

Maybe easier, but not as much fun.

True, plus it will be a one off cos i'm fitting it out with chrome hardware and clear plastic pickguard. I have sprayed the wings black and left the centre natural. so far so good just waiting for the new parts to arrive

New bass for me yesterday 10 year Fender Jazz mex , sold my precision at the weekend as i'd finally had enough of battling the chunky neck with little hands

Full set up and new strings ,all I had to do on this I one was fit the strap

Only problem I've found so far is that the output is not as loud as my pbass which had Seymour Duncan SPB-1's ,bit of playing around with neck and bridge settings will hopefully fix that or is that output level the norm ?

Loving the tone and the playability , its a keeper

Fixer upper for the summer would be good , something to do in the garden whilst chugging beers

Best by the wife some flowers first though

Got one new bass which is semi accoustic similar to an Hofner Verithin the other six are all copies of basses I used to have through the 70s 80s and 90s. Spent a small fortune kitting them out

Never had a jazz but think it would be mellow compared to a Pbass. My hands are like steam shovels so Pbass type necks are ok but struggle with narrow necks due to my sausage like fingers
I also struggle with thin necks. I have to curl my long fingers around them in an unnatural way. G&L offer a variety of neck sizes on their L-2000 series. I wish Ibanez did so.

The P bass pick up is a Humbucker but in disguise to avoid lawsuit from Gibson who owned the patent at the time, the Jazz bass's two single coils are wimpy by comparison

Yeah that's what I was hearing Marko , liking the mellow tone a lot ( good description mr zee ) but could do with boosting the levels a few db

Don't fancy in mods , boost pedal ?
