I was thinking of recording and uploading some vids of myself playing, and one reason I haven't already is that most of the songs I know have already been done and uploaded by bassists with much more skill than me.

Do you guys watch other players on youtube as well? There are quite a few I watch frequently.

My absolute favorite is TJH3113. He's a RUSH super-fan and he's uploaded over 100 Rush songs. He seems to be a real nice guy too, always replies to all his comments and is quite humble considering his skill level:

Then there's BassManOnTheHill who is mad skilled and has really good taste in classic rock. He hasn't uploaded anything in years, but what he has uploaded has helped me considerably when learning some of my favorite songs:

I also like Constantine Isslamow who has over 1,000 bass videos… pretty much every song you're likely to hear on your local classic rock station and more:

This guy Korgrandi also has great taste in rock music and his videos helped me a ton when I first started learning bass. We both are big Clutch fans and most of Dan Maines' bass lines are relatively easy for beginners so his videos ended up helping a ton because songs like “The Yeti” and “The Soapmakers” went from seeming “way too hard for a beginner like me” to being my go-to warm up songs I could virtually play in my sleep:

This is going to sound strange, but for the life of me I can't learn from watching someone play on a video.

If an instructor is sitting across from me in a room I have no problems following them. But on video? Nope, can't do it.

I don't follow anyone on Youtube, but I've seen a couple of really impressive covers over the last few years. One of my favorites is by YouTube user Marta Altesa, rocking the hell out of “Time Won't Wait” by Jamiroquai:

I'm not to into watching play along videos. I like watching solo guys.

I've watched many covers trying to figure out a song. Not all of them are correct. Constantine. Islamoff seemed off to me. He does many covers though. Davie504 does many theme songs, skyrim, mario bros. Etc.

The solo stuff is cool. Miki Santamaria, Aram Bedrosian, Zander Zon

I've seen a couple of Constantine's. Yeah, his aren't always accurate (some aren't even close). He's got a killer selection of basses, though.

Yeah shes really good. Davidinrocks is probably the baddest dude on youtube. Constatine is okay, his chin is really distracting.

TJH3113 is the business, he's not just showing off he's actually teaching
