I've watched live videos of Glen Matlock playing and he gets busy round the fretboard, he started out on guitar but put himself up for the job on bass, he penned Pretty Vacant and shared writing duties with John Lydon for most of the other stuff. To me the Pistols were punk and nobody else came close
