Very sad to hear that Dusty Hill passed away today. Such a solid player - not flashy but his timing was impeccable.

I'm going to head to the list of ZZ Top tabs we have here and play along with him for a while…

(Edited - but can't edit the title. It was Dusty, not Billy…
May he rest in peace! I covered quite a few ZZ Top songs…
You'll live forever in my heart Dusty. Thank you for the rock! RIP

Great player, always gave the song exactly what it required, with a bare minimum of showboating. One of my uncles, who was a career touring musician, used to always say a good bass player is worth his weight in gold. That was Dusty Hill. The stoic in me appreciates that though he went through some rough patches in the past, he preferred to keep them to himself rather than air his dirty laundry or exploit it for gain. Mad respect for that.

RIP, Dusty.
In honor of Dusty Hill.
Jesus just left Chicago such understated timing and feel.

It requires the bassist to anchor the rhythm and refrain from showing off.
