Tabs I like to be as close to the recording as possible, but when I'm playing there is always some of “me” in the tune. Sometimes because of a skill gap (“He plays HOW many notes in that run??? ” ), or it doesn't fit with how the whole band is playing the song.
I remember seeing an interview with Mike Inez (of Alice in Chains) where he commented that you can only play Man In The Box so many times before you have to change it up a bit.
