About Michael Jackson

Michael Joseph Jackson (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009) was an American singer-songwriter, dancer, actor, choreographer, poet, businessman, philanthropist and record producer. Referred to as the King of Pop, he is recognized as the most successful entertainer of all time, as well as one of the most influential. His unrivaled contribution to music, dance and fashion, and a much-publicized personal life, made him a global figure in popular culture for over four decades. Jackson made his debut, alongside his brothers, in 1964 as the lead singer of The Jackson 5. His solo career started in 1971, and resulted in ten studio albums. Of these, the 1982 album Thriller became the best-selling album of all time, having sold more than 110 million copies worldwide. Four of his other albums Off the Wall, Bad, Dangerous and HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I (best-selling double-album of all time by a solo artist) rank among the world's best-sellers making Jackson the artist with the most best-selling albums. I believe a note is missing. I think is on the a string.

42-2 d- 2-4

I suck at tabbing.

4th fret to 2nd fret back to fourth for first three notes.

I know which part you're talking about. I thought there was another note there, too (right under the snare hit) but after running through it a few times and paying really, really close attention, it sounds to me more like a muted strike a 16th note before the snare (hence the X in the tab) and not an actual note on it.

Of course the only way to be absolutely certain would be to hear the isolated synth track, but I've never come across it.

Cut to 8 years and five months after my above post. I actually was able to run the song through an audio splitter and isolated the bass. I've now completely revamped and updated the tab and can assure you it's now 100% note-for-note accurate. Turns out, Manny was right. There IS a note where I had initially indicated a muted pluck.

See? I'm not too proud to admit I'm wrong. I'm just not wrong very often.
