Hey, Bass community, I have a question. I play the bass for quite some time now and I think about buying a 5-string bass. But there are soo many, what should I buy? P.S.Please dont suggest ibanez, theyre awesome but I already have two ibanez and I want some variety.

Fender Jazz, Epiphone Thunderbird, pretty sure Dean makes one, or a Stingray

Fender Jazz All the way bro
Ibanez makes a pretty mean 5er. Pratically weightless, heavy low end and decent highs. It's $250 for one at Guitar Center. I paid 300 for mine, but I got pro coverage on it.

Yeah man I recommended that also. However they're like 1,500 bucks so I'd get a copy for like 400
Dude I'm not even kidding about this one. If you're just getting into the 5 buy an ESP ltd B-55. It sounds amazing and plays amazingly. The best part? It only cost under $350. I think I only payed $330 for mine. I've played several high end 5-strings and I like this one the best of any I've played. I HIGHLY recommend it!!

I don't know if neck width is an issue for you, but it is for me. I want a skinny neck in a five string (e.g. Ibanez SR series). I can't play a 6 string - the neck is just too wide for my limited reach. And wider 5 string necks (e.g. Ibanez BTB ) are a challenge. So you might want to think about that a bit, if you haven't already.

If you prefer a jazz bass neck to a precision bass neck, then you are probably wanting a skinny necked 5 string. Cheers.

Could be a Warwick. They run in up wards of 4 grand.
B.C. Rich makes a mean 5 string.
