Hi, i had to pop back and ask the question. I recently bought a 2012 Mexican P Bass and ive come to the conclusion that its not very well built, i mean its all over the place, ive had better Squiers, my OLP StingRay totally outclasses it. Anyone else have a similar experience?

I've played a few really good MIMs and a few really bad ones as well (and a couple that were only suitable as firewood) - the quality was all over the place. That era wasn't known as necessarily bad but there are lemons everywhere.

My current “If I could only have one bass” is a MIM Special Edition Deluxe PJ from 2015 - it plays easy and sounds through the amp like it does in my head.

I just picked up one of the Squier Sonic P-Basses as a mod platform and I have to say it's REALLY nice. Their quality has really gone up!

I did own a decent Mexican bass, a Jazz, it was really well built and really nice to play, the downside was it was a Jazz Bass

Honestly not that surprising to hear, the quality control on Mexican Fenders from that era could be really inconsistent. Some come off the line absolutely brilliant and others just feel like they slipped through without proper checks. It's kind of the luck of the draw with that factory at the time.
The fact that your OLP outclasses it says a lot too because OLPs were underrated guitars that a lot of people slept on. Maybe worth a proper setup by a tech first though, sometimes a bad setup makes a decent guitar feel terrible and it could transform it completely. But if the bones are just not there then yeah, no shame in moving it on!

I saw a great opportunity and took it, i swapped my Fender P and OLP StingRay for a 1990 Ibanez Musician MC824 and i love it, what an amazing bass. Ive wanted one since i saw Sting play one back in the 80s.
The 90s ones had bolt on neck as opposed to the 80s ones with through body construction. Ash, maple, ash body, laminated maple neck with ebony fingerboard and abalone dots, active pre amp, im well pleased, plays beatifully and i dont miss the other 2 at all!
