It's a pre-amp, like the EQ on a Stingray for instance, the Artec one comes complete with the bass and treble pots, the pre-amp, battery clip and wiring. You would need to make a third hole and another knob but that's a doddle on a P bass, so you'd have Vol, Bass, Treble, might sort your growl issues out too. You need a Badass Bridge aswell
