About Phish

Phish is an American rock band noted for its musical improvisation, extended jams, exploration of music across genres and devoted fan base. Formed at the University of Vermont in 1983, the band's four members performed together for over 20 years until an official breakup in August 2004. The band reunited in 2009 for three shows at the Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, Virginia, and have resumed their former activities with a full summer, a fall tour, a new album titled Joy, their eighth festival in Indio, California, and four shows in Miami, Florida, culminating on New Year's Eve.

Thanks for posting, though I'd play it differently - instead of that 6th fret on the E string, I'd play the 2nd fret on the A string. This accomplishes two things (for my money): makes it easier to play in a standard position for me, and also adds the subtle touch of MAJOR key to the pentatonic scale that is the “hook” to that riff. It doesn't do the minor third most of the time, it hits the major third which is what makes it so distinctive.

Here's my updated tab for the comment above (my first effort at tab, so I hope it works):

4/4
main riff alteration
Tabs:
G|———————3—5—3———————|———————3—9—————————————|
D|———x—5———————5—3—2—|———x—5—————8———————————|
A|—3—————————————————|—3————————————10—8—7———|
E|———————————————————|———————————————————————|

(I would probably also play it higher up the next on my 5-string to keep the positions together)

Also I have yet to find tab/transcription of the really tricky bits, the bass runs over the transition chords, or a proper chord progression for the whole song. I'm going to see if I can work that up and post it here.
