Using a Tuner/Metronome to get it there helps out if Marko's explanation confuses you. then match up the 5th and 7th fret harmonics.
when i play with GNR i usually just put the song on and play along with it. but it wont sound right if you dont drop down lol so you have to ignore the fact it sounds a bit off if ya dont tune down
