I'm not a very knowledgeable amp guy. I have been using a BA-210 and a Rumble 500. I use a big muff, m 85 and thats about it.

There are two types of amplifier, Valve and Solid State. Back in the 40s/50s/60s, amplifiers were driven by Valves,(or Tubes in the States), in the 60s Transistors began to replace valves and the majority of amps today are transistorised. Around the late 80s people began to notice the difference in the tone between the two, valves give a much warmer, organic tone, Marshall even came up with the Valvestate, which is a transistor amp with a 12ax7 valve in the output stage but it was a poor compromise. People were going crazy for old valve amps and prices went through the roof, they are much more affordable now. All pre CBS Fender amps are valve and well worth checking out. Take the Jazz back to GC and see if they have one that you can try it through, you'll be glad you did
