its not a HUGE deal because i own like 10 basses. but i kinda broke a truss rod. like snapped a piece of it off when turning it somehow. i cant help but feel since its a bolt on neck i dont really need it tho.. i can play the guitar for a year or few years until the neck decides to warp a bit then replace the neck yes? its not buzzing or making any off noises so should i actually care now? or later since im going to have to replace the neck to fix it? since im not gonna remove my fretboard and change the rod
Replace the neck now, there are plenty of cheap necks out there that will do the job, if you try to remove the fingerboard to replace the truss rod you will end up with a pile of fire wood. I bought a Jazz Bass neck, rosewood board, mother of pearl block markers for £60 from a local guitar parts supplier
is a warmoth neck. and it works fine despite the snapped truss rod… why not use it until it actually starts to bow before i put a new neck on? that could take a year or 2. perhaps longer. im not in a humid or moist climate. its dry year about pretty much
Oh. Do what Marko said. Replace the neck now. Unless the neck is made of some uber hard wood it's going to start bowing soon. Doesn't matter on the humidity. Unless the truss rod is broken but holding the neck in the proper positon by some luck.
the rod is still in there just a small piece came off. the guy said it happened about 5 months ago. still plays fine and no warping. warmoth makes some solid necks tho. and the truss may be doing something… the fact 85% of it is still inside the neck may mean it cant bow too much because eventually there would still be a hunk of metal holding it tightened or not
lol the dude at the repair shop said i gotta replace the neck one day anyways and if it works now i may as well use it until it doesnt because all i can hurt is my neck
