Question About Sorting Tabs...

I've ran into several occasions where I've submitted a tab, only to find there was already a tab submitted but it didn't show up when I searched beforehand because the author had misspelled either band's name or song title. Like for instance last night I did a search for R.E.M. tabs, but nothing came up. So I tabbed out a song, came back and, just to be sure, searched the song name. I got a hit, but realized all the “R.E.M.” songs are under the spelling “Rem.” I know there are tons of tabs here, but is there a chance of getting them organized a bit better, maybe not post them until the spelling of the band or song title have been fixed? This also happens a lot with Lynyrd Skynrd.

Just curious.

I agree, this needs to be fixed.

The way the database of bigbasstabs works is that we have artists and artist names. One artist can have many names so for example Bryan Adams is listed both under B for Bryan Adams and under A for Adams, Bryan.

This was done mostly by an algorithm devised by myself and sometimes it works poorly. It should work also for “Beatles, the” and “The beatles” but sometimes it just doesn't. When you see something like this, please let me know. I will do my best to try and merge tabs of same artist to a single name and add the other names as synonyms.

Will do, and thanks.
I've noticed this problem too. If you search for The Birthday Massacre tabs, you will only get results if you type it in exactly like this: “birthday massacre, the”. It makes it harder to find tabs you're looking for in my opinion.
