Need some advice for beginner learning exercises

Learning scales and just running up and down each string helps. It shot my playing through the roof when I re-learned the Bass clef in the staff instead of below it. Now I can read all three locations (above, on, below) the staff and It's great for me in my High School Jazz Band.
A very simple song I would recommend would be Jump in the Fire off the 1983 album Kill'em All by Metallica. Hope this helps and welcome to the fold fellow bassist.

The outro riff in ‘Jacobs Ladder’ by Rush is a really good excercise, the guitar and bass play the riff together, it's great for moving around the fingerboard and keeping the riff going
