please help me out… im a beginner- only been practicing for about a little over a month. are my ears wrong? on the song “sex type thing” by stp the tabs on the bridge(all 3 versions) have the notes going higher but when I hear the song they sound like they're going lower. am I wrong? I hear the guitar going higher(notes) and the bass going lower(notes).

Probably your ears are right! I don't know the song and haven't listened to it, but:
1) most tabs found on the internet are wrong to a greater or lesser degree;
2) the bass dropping to lower notes in harmony with the guitar climbing to higher notes is a common practice.

I strongly recommend you go with what sounds right to you!
thank you very much for the feedback. point# 2 was very helpful… btw: is somebody monitoring the tabs being posted here for accuracy? im new here- just wondering…

Johnny, who is on holiday at the moment, is the one who reviews submitted tabs. I don't know what he looks for in a tab to make a decision about accepting or rejecting. Perhaps Johnny will comment here in a few days.

I have to agree with Sidsquishus, there are times songs just are not tabbed correctly. One I am having a lot of trouble with is 1979 by the Smashing Pumpkins, for me I am playing the main parts on the A and E strings versus what I see in the tabs. Next step for me is to record myself and then see where, if any, is the disconnect…

I think it is impossible to check every note on every tab to check accuracy. It's down to the likes of us who use tabs & who submit them to point out errors or to rate good tabs.
There is a tab on here by Talk Talk (The Last Time) which is partly wrong. I'm looking into tabbing the song myself to get a more accurate version.
I know a tab I submitted a while back is slightly wrong & I want to alter/correct it at some point.
So mistakes do happen, I make them myself!
End of the day you have to go with your gut feeling & trust your instincts.

thanks for the response…
Hey bassm99, I tried to play along with the Talk Talk tab you mentioned & I noticed it wasn't right. I see you have submitted your take on the song. Really looking forward to giving it a go once it's been accepted.

I really don't check if tabs are accurate, I mostly check if formatting is nice and if it doesn't look half-assed If it looks like there's been some effort put into it and especially if its the only tab for the song, it's accepted.
