Lon, you're a movie fan, someone in the comments pointed out that the harmonic lick at the start of this song is from John Williams Close Encounters theme, but this is about eight years before Close Encounters….curious!

That is interesting. Those five notes are indeed the same as the five note sequence used in Close Encounters. You got me thinking maybe Spielberg borrowed it from this song, so I did some quick digging around, and from what I can tell it's just a coincidence. What info I saw stated that Spielberg worked for a long time with John Williams to figure out what notes to use; Williams wanted a seven note sequence but Spielberg thought it would be too long (Seriously? Two more notes would have been too long? Split hairs much, Steve-O?) until they finally settled on those five.

So, yeah, a coincidence. Pretty big one, though!
