Looking for Metal folks to spark great conversations with…not radio metal or rock. (not that there is anything wrong with that) More in the lines of Iced Earth, Priest, Maiden (early), Tad Morose, Primal Fear etc. Currently, I'm jamming to a great song by Tad Morose…“Ares” A great bass riff to add.

Mm I'm more thrash/death/speed/glam//hair/industrial metal. I can't stand some 80s vocals that all horribly high pitched. Not heavy enough for me, it's metal. Definitely no Metalcore. You'll have to shoot me to listen to it. Bands I listen to are Megadeth, Anvil, Slayer, Overkill, Exodus, Dying Fetus, Cannibal Corpse, Napalm Death, Marilyn Manson, Alice Cooper, Metallica, Nine Inch Nails, Behemoth, Pantera, Mötley Crüe, Twistsed Sister, etc.

For myself, I'm a loyalist…I love my Metal, but I also enjoy non-metal genres as well. Even playing Bass, I enjoy playing basic Country music. I love the traditional bass walk.
Linkinpark; you have a wide range of musicical likes. I also agree with most bands listed.
Leiria; it all depends on what your looking for…now a days, there are so many bands to choose from. If your looking for musicianship style metal bands, then I would recommend Iron Maiden or early Judas Priest. If you want some Bass related material, then listen to Black Sabbath. Geezer Butler is an amazing bass player. If you want something new…try Ashes of Ares or Tad Morose.

I wouldn't say i'm a die hard metal fan but i fo enjoy the shit outta some good metal. I'm more into the contemporary progressive/post stuff like Russian Circles, Between the Buried and Me, Irepress, Intronaut, Protest the Hero and The Fall of Troy. All of these bands have very unique sounds and have great bassists! Dan Briggs from Between the Buried and Me might be the greatest Bassist on the scene right now! (In my opinion) I'm not really to big on a lot of the older stuff. can't stand metallica or megadeath. also not a big maiden or priest fan. I do like Sabbath and Death though, also not to big on glam or industrial (all the stuff i've heard is very very limp). i do enjoy my doom metal. saw sleep a couple years ago and i almost shit myself. Al Cisneros has the fattest tone ever!

Sadwings, I listen to pretty much any genre really. My 2nd favorite is indie/alternative rock like Kings Of Leon, My Morning Jacket, and Band Of Horses. I can't stand just listening to one genre

By the way is your name related to the Judas Priest album Sad Wings Of Destiny?

I love metal, used to be a metalhead with the long hair and everything. I still listen and play a lot of metal. I really like iron maiden, blind guardian, helloween, hammerfall. I also played in a metal band where we played some death covers and some sepultura.

Linkinpark…yes you are correct. I'm a die hard Priest fan. You can see from profile picture…its the emblem from Priest. Its the only tatt I have.
I agree, I love music, but the blood run with Metal. Its my “go too” outlet if you will.
Just3; Have you listen to Solitude Aerturnus? Great Doom band from Texas…in the line of Candlemass.

Sadwings Cool! And I know exactly what you mean about metal being your go to outlet
I love Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, and Anthrax. Of all those, I would say Maiden and Metallica are tied for first. It seems like Steve Harris' bass playing was best on the early stuff. Phantom of the Opera, Iron Maiden, Wrathchild, etc. all are quite bassy.

Btw I am interested in getting into Judas Priest. Any albums/songs you recommend I check out?
