Does Metallica even have any actual 5 string songs?

I always see Robert Trujillio, or whatever his last name is, use 5 string basses but I have never heard anything lower than C# which was all of St. Anger. Like why would you use a 5 string if you won't even use the B?

hmm, maybe so that he doesn't have to downtune or change basses when they play reload stuff. I think they had a lower tuning there. I could be wrong though.
All the stuff I know from Reload is in standard I'm pretty sure. And then there's a few D standard songs on spread on different albums. But like I said, never heard any B strings in a song

this doesn't sound like standard to me. But I'm not sure its played on a 5 string either.
I've heard that song a lot. I'll listen to it again and see if I hear anything

Most of Load and Reload are Eb and if I remember correctly, everything on St. Anger is down a full step and with a lot of drop C. Not to mention that over the last many years when they play live, it's usually in Eb, even their old stuff that was originally in standard.

They've been using Eb live since about ‘95 or thereabouts mostly, I expect, because it’s a hell of a lot easier on the singer.
Actually Lon all of St. Anger is in C or C# standard
So, here's the next question: Newsted or Burton?

That's a hard question. I really like both. If I had one wish I would like to visit the parallel universe where Burton didn't die and see how Metallica turned up.

I know that Hetfield and Ulrich write most of the stuff, but I bet that the songs and albums would be different.
I think Burton is too overated. And Newsted didn't have to use distortion on every damn song
