Gorilla Girl — Bass

from Big Lizard In My Backyard

|2 versions]

Version 1:
—————————

Tabbed by: Tom Chalifour ([email protected])

I was jamming on my bass one day when I started playing a
familiar bass line. I then relized I was playing the basis
of the Gorrila Girl bass line. Cool shit happens when you
don't pay attention >:)

I did this for myself before I had Tom's version, but he
actually tabbed it before I did. As you'll see, both are
pretty similar, and I'll probably fix this file up into
the one version soon. In the meantime, it's like this, so
live with it. :)

THE DEAD MILKMEN
Bitchin' Camaro — Bass

from Big Lizard in My Backyard

Tabbed by: Ben Gladdle ([email protected])

This is just toooooo easy. At least it is playing it this way. :)

Intro:
—————
G—————————————————————
D———————0—2—3—2—0—————
A—————2———————————2———
E———3—————————————————

There's some very slight variations on the timing on this one.
Occasionally an extra note or two, but mainly just like this.

For the choruses and verses, I have not put in the number of times
you play each note. You should be able to hear it in the recording,
but I will say that the last note of each progression is played
only once. I think they are the correct notes as well, but you can
mess around with it, moving notes up or down an octave if it makes
you happy.

THE DEAD MILKMEN
VFW — Bass

from Big Lizard In My Backyard

Tabbed by: Tom Chalifour ([email protected])

It's about time I got around to tabbing a song considering I'm the
only one contributing to this site that actually plays bass. Anyway,
this is an easy one so enjoy.

Verse/Chorus:

G C G Am
G—————————————————————
D—————————————————————
A—————3—3—————————————
E—3—3—————3—3—5—5—5—5—

Pre Chorus:

E C
G——————————————————————————————————————————
D—————————————————————————————————10—...———
A—————————————————7—7—7—7—7—7—7—7——————————
E—0—0—0—0—0—0—0—0——————————————————————————

After this, you just slide down to the last fret on the D string
playing each note really fast.

End on G.

THE DEAD MILKMEN
Swordfish — Bass

from Big Lizard In My Backyard

Tabbed by: Ben Gladdle ([email protected])

The other bit isn't exact (at the very least there's a couple more
notes squeezed in) but it's close, and I think the main riff is right.
One of Dave's best bass lines.

Main Riff:
—————————

G———————————————————————————————————————————9——
D—————————9—8————————————————————9—8———————————
A———7————————————4—5—6—————7—————————————7—————
E——————————————————————————————————————————————

Other Bit:
—————————
0:42

G————————————————————————————————————————————————
D——————————————————7——9———————————————————7——————
A——————————7————9—————————————————7————9————————— (x2)
E———7——10——————————————————7——10—————————————————

The only other alteration is that on the first line of the last verse,
right after "we may be doing something wrong", I think it goes a
little bit like this.

G—————————————————————————————————————————9b———
D—————————9—8————————————————————9—8———————————
A———7————————————4—5—6—————7———————————————————
E——————————————————————————————————————————————

You could do just as well without it anyway.

Filet of Sole — Bass

from Big Lizard in My Backyard

Tabbed by: Tom Chalifour ([email protected])
Tampered with evilly by: Ben Gladdle ([email protected])

Here's an easy one. The structure of it kinda reminds me of
Dean's Dream.

Verse:
F# E
G———————————————————————|
D———————————————————————|
A———————————————————————|
E——2—2——0—2——0—2—2——0—2—|

Chorus:
F# E B
G—————————————————————————————————————————————|
D——4————2—————————————————————————————————————|
A————————————2——2—2——2—2—2———2——2—2——2—2—2————|
E—————————————————————————————————————————————|

F# E
G————————————|
D————————————|
A——0————4————|
E————————————|

Bridge:
E F#
G———————————————————|
D——2—2—2—2—4—4—4—4——|
A———————————————————|
E———————————————————|

Outro: (just a different rhythm from the verse)
F# E
G——————————————————————|
D——————————————————————|
A——————————————————————|
E——2—2——0—2——0—2—2—0—2—|

End on F#.

THE DEAD MILKMEN
Spit Sink — Bass

From Big Lizard in My Backyard

Tabbed by: Tom Chalifour ([email protected])
Riff changed by: Ben Gladdle ([email protected])

Pretty simple but cool (at least in my opinion).

Ben: Yes, I'm rude and keep changing stuff, but I change my own
tabs all the time, so there. We all make mistakes. I changed
the riff section of this to match the guitar tab. Like that one,
it's an approximation, but a slight improvement.

Verse:
E C G D
G———————————————————————————|
D———————————————————————————|
A—————————3———————————————5—|
E—0———————————————3—————————|

Chorus:
E
G———————————————————————————|
D———————————————————————————|
A———————————————————————————|
E—0———————0———————0———————0—|

Riff:
G——————————————————————————————|
D——————————————————————————————|
A————7—7—7—6—6—6—5—5—5—————————|
E——————————————————————8—8—8———|

G——————————————————————————————|
D——————————5—5—5—7—7—7—————————|
A————7—7—7—————————————9—9—9———|
E——————————————————————————————|

Repeat the last two lines twice normaly and as many
times needed in the last freak out part.

End on E.

THE DEAD MILKMEN
Takin' Retard To The Zoo — Bass

from Big Lizard In My Backyard

|2 versions]

Version 1:
—————————

Tabbed by: Mike Brennan ([email protected])

verse:
A—0—3—5—3—

chorus:
E———————————————|———
D———————————————|———
A—3—3—3—3—————3—|—0—
E—————————3—3———|———

Version 2:
—————————

Tabbed by: Ben Gladdle ([email protected])

Not so sure that the A is in there at the end of every chorus.
Play loud and fast and no one will notice, as it's over in 40
seconds anyway. The A is actually closer to an Am I think, but
the guitar is playing power chords (I think) and it doesn't
matter for the bass anyway.

Main Riff:
—————————
Am
G———————————
D———————————
A————3—5—3—— (x a lot)
E——5————————

Chorus:
——————
C F C C F Am
G——————————————————————————————————
D——————————————————————————————————
A——3—3—3—3—————3————3—3—3—3————————
E——————————1—1——————————————1—1—5——

End on Am.

THE DEAD MILKMEN
Dean's Dream — Bass

from Big Lizard In My Backyard

Tabbed by: Ben Gladdle ([email protected])

Actually, the bass is pretty easy, but it sounds good nonetheless.

Verse/Intro:
———————————
F#m Fm D
G———————————————————————————————————————————————
D————————————————————————————————————0——————————
A———————————————————————————————————————————————
E——2——2——1/2—2—2————2——2——1/2—2—2———————————————

F#m Fm D A E
G—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
D—————————————————————————————————————————————————————0———————————
A—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————0———————
E——2——2——1/2—2—2————2——2——1/2—2—2————2——2——1/2—2—2————————————0———

The intro just uses the F#m/Fm riff, but the verse uses these two
lines as necessary.

Chorus:
——————
D A E F#m
G————|———————————————————————————————————|
D————|———————————————————————————————————|
A——4—|—5———5—5———————5—7———7—8—9———9—4———| x3
E————|—————————5———5—————————————————————|

D A E
G———————————————————————
D———————————————————————
A——5———5—5———————5—7————
E——————————5———5————————

This chorus just sounds funky. Very simple rhythm (which I've
tried to approximate), but fits in well. Only repeat the stuff
within the bars 3 times... Basically meaning that you only
play the lead in note (the 4) once each time. If I just confused
you, please feel free to ask.

F#m riff before Outro:
—————————————————————
F#m Fm
G————————————————————
D————————————————————
A——9——9——8/9—9—9—————
E————————————————————

This is different just this one time, and it's only up an octave.

Outro:
—————
D A E F#m
G——————————————————————————————————————————————
D——————————————————————————————————————————————
A——4—5———5—5———————5—7————————————7——7——8——9———
E————————————5———5—————————————————————————————

The last chorus leading into this is the same as the others, just
the lyrics start on the next chord. This doesn't bother you. Just
play your bass, and end it like this! :)

There you go. Not too hard, but sounds great.
